The stone chalice has been delivered to the Pope, Ise Shrine, and many temples that everyone knows. He has been selected as a “Contemporary Master Craftsman” by the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare, and was awarded the Medal with Yellow Ribbon in 2019.
The surface is finished by cutting igneous rock (andesite) from Hakoneyama in the Fuji Volcanic Zone and beating it tens of thousands of times with a technique called chisel-tip drilling.
